I took this class because I liked to take artsy pictures of people and nature and I thought that this class could help me improve my skills. I also herd that we worked with Photoshop in this class and that really interested me because I love editing photos. My skills have definitely improved throughout the course of this class. My photography skills improved because I learned how to take good photos. I learned about the different types of composition that makes photos pleasing to the eye. I also learned about shutter speed, aperture and ISO, what they do and how I can change their settings to get photos that are not to dark and not to bright. I also learned that you can adjust these settings to get a cool picture of something in motion by freezing the motion or creating motion blur. The fist time I pulled out one of the cameras I thought to myself, I will never know what these controls do. That is not the case anymore. I am very familiar with a great number of the controls and settings now. I learned how to use one of my now favorite apps, Photoshop. I love Photoshop because there are so many things that you can do on it. I learned about most of the tools and what I can use them for. By experimenting I also learned many things that you can do to pictures in Photoshop. The very first time I opened Photoshop I thought to myself, I will never get the hang of this. But, now at the end of the class I feel pretty confident using the many different tools in Photoshop. These, in my opinion, are some of my best photos: These, in my opinion are some of my worst photos: Here are some of my favorite edits that I made in Photoshop: Here are some of my least favorite edits that I made in Photoshops: I really liked this class because of the freedom that it allowed me!

For the visual puns assignment we had to come up with 3 of our our own puns or find 3 online and create a visual representation of those 3 puns. We did this by combining 2 or more images for our pun in Photoshop. Once we had 3 different visual puns, we put them all onto 1 canvas in Photoshop. Then, for the visual dictionary we had to find 2 adjectives (I chose some lesser known words) and again like the puns we had to combine 2 or more images in Photoshop that describe this word. We also had to include the word and meaning in our visual representation. Once we made 2 different visual dictionary images, we put them onto one canvas into Photoshop. These puns are quality, super bowl and onion ring. During this assignment, I practiced using many of the selection tools, the eraser, and brush tools to put my images together. I also experimented with different fonts and sizes. I really liked these assignments because they allow me to be creative in Photoshop and experiment with all the different tools.
For this assignment I took several photos of this bright colored volleyball in different locations. I chose the bright colored ball to take pictures with, then make them black and white, because I thought that there would be different shades of black and white because of all the colors. F/5.0 1/800 ISO 160 Here is the unedited version. The only editing I did to this photo was desaturating it to black and white.
